Knowing he had died in 02' I thought to myself man i have stop this drug abuse and there are times when i wanna use i just throw in a alice in chains cd and i hear his words and i don't use cuz it just reminds me of what bad comes out of it. And i also play guitar and they, alice in chains are my number one influence to do something good. so i thank you Layne Staley!!! I love you man.

...I want to tell you how meaningful your words and music were during a period in my life when I felt like I didn't fit, wasn't wanted and wished to move on to the next lifetime. The first album I ever bought was Facelift" at eleven years old. If only I knew then that this album would shift my entire outlook on music and open my eyes to all the powerful, meaningful music in the world. Thank you, Layne

Your pain you endured is expressed in your music-such anger and despair. It is my most sincere wishes that you are in heaven singing of love, praise, and joy with the angels for you were given the gift of music. Rest in peace my brother in Christ- I will look forward to meeting you there.

alice in chains' songs are helping me to get through a not so easy phase of my life... somehow what I feel is oh so linked to many of their lyrics, especially angry chair. I've never had the possibility too see layne when he was alive, unfortunately he stopped singing when I was still 13. I hope you have finally found your peace and I hope you're with demri in this moment :). rip angel we miss you so much.

I felt his pain through his songs,he's haunting voice helped me along, when i was down his songs gave me hope, made me feel better and helped me cope,he died too young but his songs still live on,some say he was a junkie, but he helped many hang on,so to a life cut so short by his drug of choice, layne staley lives on through his voice

Alice in Chains and Layne Staley helped me get through some very difficult periods of my life. Even after 8 years it's still difficult to believe Layne has left us. He was a beautiful soul who was not able to fight the demons that took control of his life. Layne we love you and miss you terribly!! Hopefully you have found the peace that you were unable to find here on Earth.

I remember first hearing Layne's voice when I was fifteen years old. I knew they had been together for a long time before I had heard of them but I really enjoy listening to his voice at night when I would help my own addiction. When I heard of Layne's death, I immediatly seeked help for my own addiction and the music still lives on within me. It's sad to know that we will never be able to hear new music from him, but he lives in my heart forever.

wow, how ironic that he died on Kurt Cobain's death anniversary, two wonderful musicians that were lost to addiction- heroin is a horrible drug and anyone who sells it should be incarcerated for life......

i think even those of us who didn't personally know layne took him into our hearts and he became a part of our lives-----------how could he not? forget that he was famous, in a band, or whatever.......his soul is what shined through and made him so special. nobody could ever touch his talent and his vocals but at the end of the day, he was simply a man....a man who struggled with so much pain i think we could all feel when we heard his voice. he was a beautiful man, a son, a brother and a friend to so many. i just wish he had've let somebody help him get clean, instead of just letting himself rot away....i know he felt ashamed of what he had become, but he was loved nonetheless---i have seen articles that state that friends would come by his place and practically beg him to open the door, with no response from layne. i think of him daily, not on a fan level but on a human level-------layne, we love and miss you and as sad as i am that you're gone, i know you've found that peace and happiness that you so desired while you were on this earth. god bless you, and thank you for sharing yourself with all of us!

Its still so hard 2 deal with.He had a one of a kind voice that i would listen 2 every single day since the band came out.I remember watching the unplugged and wondering why nobody isnt seeing what im seeing. This rockstar needed so much help but nobody seemed 2 wanna help.I saw alice in chains last month. They were good, but nothing like they were with layne. He was just amazing and will never be replaced. It still makes me so sad even 2 this day.

.Layne, you're the most talented person i've ever known...i'll keep you in my heart till the end. God bless. Я всегда буду помнить тот день когда я впервые услышала твой голос и поняла, что ты поешь о том, что творится в душе каждого человека.Я буду помнить тебя и твой дух всегда будет рядом со мной.Царство Тебе Небесное.

I love Alice in Chains...they are one of my all time favorite bands. I listened to them as a teenager growing up in the 90's as well as other grunge bands that came out. But I still go back to AIC. Layne was so talented & gifted & his voice was one of a kind. I've read a lot about him & it's very sad that he was not able to overcome his demons in order to save himself. I read that he was completely devastated by the loss of Demri & it broke his spirit, as it would do to anyone who lost their soulmate. I like to think that she was waiting to take him to be with her forever.....his wings were no longer denied. Rest in Peace Layne...we will never forget you

I still listen to your amazingly taleneted vocals all the time. I can honestly say that a musicians death has never affected me this way, but yours truly did and still does. AIC is, by far, the best group of our generation. I know every song, and love them all. The chemistry you had together is timeless. You have yet to be recognized as one of the best singers in rock history, but hopefully one day you will be granted that well earned title. I also wish I could have been there for you as a friend and a fan begging you to beat it at all costs, not just for your own life; but for the many many people who you inspired, and continue today to inspire. You didn't even realize how truly loved you were / are by your family, friends, and millions of fans. Most of which like me, never met you.... but felt through your music, that we knew you on a special level. Though I've never had any major drug addictions, I have had many struggles that AIC songs were like therapy to my soul. I still cry from time to time when I listen to them knowing you were felt so alone in your last days. I like to think that had you only reached out to your mom, or sister(s), or bandmate(s), or anyone close to you.... they would have done anything to assist you in saving your life. I've seen what addiction does to people, so I understand you felt as though you were doing them a favor by staying away. Those mis-guided feelings of not wanting anyone to see you that way, or thoughts of really having no one there that really cared. You didn't even know you had millions of people that would have done anything to keep you here with us. For the many of us out there that still have that special connection to you whereever you are (heaven I'm sure).... we miss you, we love you, and you will never be forgotten. The music you contributed to us.... your fans and the rest of the world.... will live on forever. I truly hope you have found the peace you could not find here. God blessed us with you for only a short time, but I'd like to thank him for the time we did have. I like to think, that if I'm lucky enough to make it up where you are, that I finally get the chance to meet you and tell you of the impact you had on my life. Until that day..... rest in peace, you're an angel now~ TMA
