As a young actor, I was lucky enough to be cast as an extra in an episode of MAUDE! and spent one week in Bea Author's company. The episode delt with the opening a gay-bar in Tukahoe, New York and of course the town was in an uproar but Maude Findley came to its defense. No training or classes ever equaled watching and learning from this pro who through her genius and timing and genuine inspiration made it "okay" for this shy gay man appriciate true talent and realize show-business can sometimes inspire and influence and change lives. "....and then there's MAUDE!...." Thank you Bea Author.... Steven Henry Goldring

I loved Bea Arthur in Golden Girls but my favorite character was her because she would crack me up as Dorothy Zbornak and Sophia her mother especially too but i still think that it just sucks that we lost 2 of the best characters and actors on Golden Girls and it just sucks that blanche and rose are the 2 actors left on that show.

A great lady & performer who brought laughs & won respect from multi media audiences. A commanding figure onstage with a great belt it out voice & amazing sense of timing. She will be missed, not just for who she was, but as a member of the icons of her caliber that we have lost. Rest in peace dear lady.

My memory is that of a sassy broad that spoke her mind. I was priveledge to see her in her one woman show in Ft. Lauderdale.....fantastic. Before that, I grew up with Maude & of course laughed all the time to the Golden Girls. My condolences to her family & close friends.

Bea Arthur will always have a place on my TV, literally. Thanks to DVDs I can put on the Golden Girls , Maude or even Mame whenever there is nothing on to watch, which is often. 37 years later and Bea Arthur's Maude still makes me laugh out-loud, She was so ahead of her time. And I have spent many a night watching my Golden Girls DVDs. all seven seasons and they are as funny as ever. And who can forget Bea Arthur and Angela Lansbury doing the classic duet from Mame. ... Bosom Buddies. It so sad that this wonderful woman and actor is gone, she'll be very missed.

Love, Laughter, Family and Friends. That is what you were all about. I will surely miss you Bea, you were a beacon in my life. I could always watch your shows and no matter how bad my day was, come out laughing and feeling so much better. I never knew you personally, never was fortunate enough to see you in person, but the way you lived your life on and off camera was an example to be followed. I know God has prepared a beautiful place for you. You will truly be missed.

Oh my god. I have been dreading this day for so long. The day I look up at the TV screen and see that there is no longer a chance for me to meet my beloved Bea...I can't believe it. Everything about you, Bea: your facial expressions, your hilarious sarcasm, your incredible intelligent wit, will be missed. You have filled my days with laughter & joy, ever since I was a kid. You were my "imaginary mom". How I cherish the episodes of The Golden Girls based around your character. Especially the ones where you sing. "What'll I do...I have to say what I feel...They call her hard hearted Hannah..." How my eyes STILL fill with when I watch the last episode, it makes me crazy every time. How I quote you on a DAILY BASIS! I just want to say thank you for being that friend I never had in real life. Thank you for being that mom I always dreamed of, and thank you for being a role model in a world where emptiness sometimes filled my days. I love you so much. I really do. "When the world gets cold and I forget that there are people who are warm (like you, Bea)...I'll wrap myself in your memory...you'll always be my sister. Always."

Liz R., I share your feelings COMPLETELY. She made me feel like we were friends yet she never even knew I was alive. I loved her so much!!! and I too dreaded this day for so long. I am so glad I bought the 7 seasons of the Girls on DVD (and have watched them from 1 thru 7, twice now) It's time to pull them out and watch them again!!!

Long time fan of Bea Author. Laughed until I cried. What a talented woman. The GOLDEN GIRLS was and still is one of the BEST shows. There could have been no other Dorothy. That role was made for Bea. I was so happy when the producers wouldn't take no for an answer. For me just some of the best parts was when Dorothy would just slam the door in Stan's face on cue. Just so many great memories, so funny, she will be missed! Thanks for all the great laughs and most of all, THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND! R.I.P. Pamela from New York

Bea Arthur's demonstrative character and wit as Golden Girl, Dorothy, soothed my longing and ache for the sarcastic, sassy, humor I grew up with as a an adolescent in Long Island, New York. There was no getting away from that Noo Yawk, dry, direct sense of humor she so hysterically delivered on the set. She really is someone I wish I could have met because I admired her talent so much. Now, I will purchase "The Golden Girls" DVD sets so I can be assured I will laugh through my golden years! Thanks for the memories, Bea. Rest in peace.
