Wayne loved the beach. I know this because he kept a P.O. Box in Laguna Beach just so he would be sure to get to the beach on a regular basis. I always thought that was cool. I will also always remember him as the guy who "took a year off to be with God." It seemed so radical to me the first time I heard it. Now it makes perfect sense to me. A large part of my ministry is helping people engage in extended times with God. Wayne named these times EPCs (Extended Personal Communion). It is because of Wayne that this practice has become so important to me personally. I guess that now, for Wayne, EPC means Eternal Personal Communion. He will be missed.

I love "Eternal Personal Communion" as Wayne's new experience of EPC!

I never knew that Wayne coined the phrase "Exended Personal Communion". But it does not surprise me...grace takes much extended personal communion to really grasp!

My personal journey has been deeply impacted by some of the simple words Wayne has offered over the years. My journal runs about 5,000 over 18 years, but page 1 are my notes from a talk Wayne gave out of John 10. He reminded us that day in January 1990 that the good shepherd knows His sheep, that they hear his voice, and they follow Him. That day started me on a journey that continues today. I will miss Wayne as a friend, a colleague, and a spiritual mentor.
