These issues will not go away, agreed: I can see it all becoming a nice, cosy mess and we're not going to solve it by claiming certain communities are better or worse than others. No one said white kids are angels either, teenagers are notoriously feral by nature and you will always have problems because too many people out there don't understand what parenting means. I do not want to take any race away, if I had a wish that would be of all people to live together in a cheesy picture of peace and happiness but I can't see it happening anytime soon. As a white man, however, I confirm to you that many a times I have been on the receiving end of serious intimidation from gangs of black (and asian) lads in broad daylight as I walk around Birmingham and this didn't happen 20 years ago. So, we either have a generic problem with new generations of kids hell bent to make their mark in the wrong way or there's more to be done with regards to certain cultures and the way they look at life. I guess we could carry on debating this forever but, in the end, I'm sure we would all have enough ammunition to fire at each for so long it'd only end up contributing to this sad state of affairs.

How corageous of you to put your real name on here, after all there are so very few Vanessa out there I'd imagine it takes a lot of bravery, well done. My name's Carl Kolowski, what do you want me to do - send you my birth certificate? I don't know the deceased, I suspect if I knew him I'd be pretty worried about the company I keep. I'm on here like so many because I'm curious to understand what makes a 16 year old wanting to become a small time crook and I'm also curious to read up to which point people recognise how divided this country really is, more and more frequently not because of white people. Once again, Vanessa, you are making the mistake so many are making on here: you dismiss my arguments as petty white-black issues, which is usually what many do when they have little else to answer with. This "little lad", as you put it, was a danger to others and ultimately to himself. He has paid the price many pay when you get involved with the wrong people and I don't find any pleasure in seeing this happen to kids barely out of nappies. I also find it predictably boring you bring up the usual "deep rooted anger" business, because victimism allows you to a) feel better about yourself and b) dismiss any argument I made in an instant by claiming I'm a racist. If, for example, Bulgarians behaved the way this lad and so many wannabe Gangsta do these days, I'd have a problem with their culture. Same applies to any nationality, colour or creed in this world if they decided to start creating trouble. I have not made up the stats out there, many on here need to research their facts rather than resort to the lazy "you are a racist" way out. These days I experience racism from black people on a regular basis, be it attitude, aggressive and confrontational looks in the street or simply generic, anti-social behaviour if you happen to drive/walk in the wrong areas and you don't fit in. I don't care what colour these misguided fools are, they could be green, yellow or from Mars for all I care: but it remains clear there are patterns of behaviour and cultural issues out there many prefer to ignore as it suits them to do so. Take this "white pride, nice house, car and job" bloke who just posted on here: he sure isn't helping because he's phrasing it in such an aggressive, nasty way. But when he mentions the gangsta culture, he has a point: this is a new generation of children growing up hating other cultures. And as for society having forced down our throat all this political correctness, I repeat: build a Christian Church in a Muslim country or - as a white man - go to a black club and see how well you're welcomed. Different standards, depending on who you are: people, understandably, are getting sick of it.

User avatar

Am sure people would find it easier to be more sympathetic and respectful if his stupid misguided friends took off the gangster photos they've put on in his 'honour' and put some photos of a nicer side of Shakilus. Am sure if he could come back for five minutes, he would say that guns and knives definitely aren't clever and i'm sure he would've done things differently had he had his time again. lou

that he was a criminal. That he was in a gang. That he'd been photographed posing online with a knife. I'm sure it's a tragedy for the parents, but for society? Not at all. Lower future prison population, lower future benefit bills to pay for his unemployment.

RIP Shakilus I hope you find peace, up there with Jinky, Shankly and Shergar. I hope we on earth can find justice. I have written to both Celtic football club and Liverpool to request we have a minutes silence before every home game next season, my eyes are filling up as I type. For Michael Shields, those killed in gang warfare and vicitms of masonic SFA refs, we will find justice. This is real and on our doorsteps. With Love xxx

Liam....not being funny love, but wasnt the little white boy shot in the head and killed by another litlle white boy? @Carl, You are raising valid points. However....lets not forget that Jimi Hendrix was a heroin addict who in fact died as a result of drug use, and James Brown was using everything from PCP to crack, hence his crazy behaviour. I do agree that the black community has a serious problem, but I would hope that you would be astute enough to realise that if youtook all of us away, you'd still have problems, and not as a result of us. I did not once mention slavery, so do not quote that colonial rubbish to me please - and there are just as many white kids out there behaing like little shits as there are any other race - Gary Newlove kicked to death by WHITE kids, not black, the fourteen year old girl in the sun the other day beating up an old lady - also white. The young gothic teenager kicked to death in a park by a group of white boys - I repeat, Sian Simpson killed by a white gang member - do you really need me to keep quoting evidence?. You can bury your head in the sand all you like but if communities keep pointing fingers instead of addressing problems, these issues just are NOT going to go away. @L.sha Yes it is someones life - but we as the older members of the community HAVE to get our heads together and work it out otherwise you are going to lose a lot more of your friends than the late Shakilus. I know Shakilus parents, and I know he was getting his act together.....what you have to understand is that the majority of british society doesnt see that doesnt know that, sees a young man in a photo with a knife and they are afraid for their own. Im sorry but you cannot tell me oh yeah there are issues within the young ccommunity but....there are no buts....how many more of your friends do you want to lose? If you want to honour Shaki's memory - then DO something! Dont just grieve - be proactive. You obviously cared for him - so you as the younger generation have to make sure he didnt die in vain. Already threats have been made to get the young girl who led him there - is it worth it? really?

My heart goes out to young Shakilus parents and his brothers and sisters........ so much evil out there on our streets today, no child is safe. I am a mother of teenage boys living in central london, and reading the news of Shakilus terrifying experience at the mercy of a group of subhuman beasts haunts me even though I never knew him. One of my own teenagers was attacked in a similar manner some time ago, unlike Shakilus he survived, due to the timely intervention from decent members of society .........(his only crime was to text a female school friend to say hi). Lets pray that these monsters are brought to justice, and justice is not only served, but seen to be served. If it had not been Shakilus that met his fate at their hands it was only going to be a matter of time before some other teenager was unfortunate enough to cross paths with them. http://www.thelondonpaper.com/ David Idowu R.I.P. this child's only crime was to be in the wrong place at the wrong time wearing his school uniform. Shakilus may be gone but he will not be forgotten xx

Shaki- I've known this guy for ages, he was such a lil joker. The people that knew him would know that he wasn't a little saint but he was still some1's baby. the amont of people that love and miss that guy is unbelievable! i remeber looking at the news and seeing others teenagers around london dying, i never in my life thought it would happen to some1 i knew. It's a painfull thing to think about, knowing that your never goin to see that persons cheeky lil grin anymore. But the thing that is going to lead on from this is more death. People want to find Shak's killer and do to them, what they did to him. whats that going to result to? a chain of deaths. that wont b good. People need 2 realis that we shouldn't b hurtig one another because we think we can. Any dickhead can holda weapon...But howw many people can stand for t consequences that follow. To all those teenagers this year whos lifes av been taken You will always be in our hearts. xXx

you're obviously an intelligent bloke and i agree with 99% of all your postings, however we ARE all to blame because we've all allowed decent values to deteriorate to a level where reps on the motorway think nothing of tossing their mc donalds rubbish onto the M1, where war memorials are used to hone skateboard skills and WHITE people in liverpool refuse to testify against the scumbag who shot rhys jones. I'm a white, english, ex jailbird and ex football hooligan but i can't support your argument that this is ONLY a problem created by black youths... We all need to learn that just because we have cultural differences doesn't mean we also have to have different values and morals.

15 years ago was bad? I was a teen then and I don't recall having to watch my back after 8 at night, I don't recall wasters in the charts inciting to violence, I don't recall riding a train and worrying whether I will be blown up at some point by some bloody arab. Snoop sings about gangs, guns and bitches but can't eat KFC? Again, Snoop's music is not about white people and I reiterate, sick as I am to repeat myself: this is mainly a black community issue, it was created within that community and that community needs to address it. It grinds you to admit it? Face the reality of facts. 15 years ago kids didn't go around carrying knives but then 15 years ago this was a different England, regardless of the economical situation. Back then, for example, you didn't have some idiotic rapper singing about treating women like shit and making money through violence. Black music used to be James Brown, motown and Jimi Hendrix in the 60s and in the 70s - now it's all about marking your territory and beating the hell out of anyone even daring to look at you. I see it every day in the street, where gangs of black and sometimes asian lads give you unnecessary, unprovoked attitude and CHOOSE to isolate themselves, regardless of their social status. People stick to their own because we have been forced to live together, this was never a choice but a necessity. I'd like to be able to see a country where everyone get along but then I don't recall a white Bronx where black people get killed. I do recall the New York one though. Naturally, we have people blaming society and financial restraints for the way these kids grow up but I can assure you there's plenty of white families with very limited means still able to bring up a kid with some sort of values. A black man can quite happily go to most clubs but you try - as a white bloke - to go to a black club and see how you survive the experience. Segregation works 2 ways, it's time we drop the old "bad white man" nonsense as the tables have now turned. This cultural idiocy imported from America did not belong to the UK and white people and has been embraced by new generations of angry, directionless kids, barely able to cook for themselves but quite happy to pretend they have it all when they use a knife on someone. Let's get it clear once and for all, to say we are all responsible for this cultural car crash is not fair. White, British people did not import the gun culture, did not create a society within a society to avoid other races and sure as hell did not choose to blow themselves up in Airports. We live in a country swamped with opportunists, people who happily take what we can offer only to return hate. It's derisory when I read that the Muslim community, for example, is very much against extremists when there's no cooperation within in passing on information to the autorities. This is also the country who allows lunatics to stand in front of Westminster with placards and banners inciting violence towards the West, claiming that "Freedom should go to hell". It's also the country who bends over backwards not to offend minorities and has welcome - and still does - hundreds of thousands of people from all over the place, attempting to gag its own people in the name of tolerance in the process. Go build a Christian church in a Muslim country, see how they welcome you. The truth is that this is victimism at his best and, Samantha, colonialism was a long time ago, the racism you experience now is pure backlash from people sick to the core to be told that we need to be more understanding.

this youth posed with guns (there's photo's posted by his thick friends to prove this) and all the posturing in gang style poses seems to suggest he was in a gang (although not as much as posing with said gun) which is why most people have little sympathy... As i have said in previous postings, the only way to stop this senseless cycle of violence and death is BRING BACK DISCIPLINE in all areas of life. Parents need to stop thinking their kids can do no wrong and bring them up to respect everyone and everything they encounter. Parents also need to work harder to stay together so these kids, especially boys, have a decent male role model. Teachers need to be allowed to use the cane when all other punishments have failed. The police need to be allowed to give a clip round the ear where appropriate and prison needs to be made a place you'd only ever want to visit once. This can only happen if EVERYONE, regardless of colour or race, stands together to tell the powers that be this is the action we demand and we also need to stand together, to not only fight back at the thugs and lowlife but also to show them there is another way to live your life and that they can be a useful addition to society if they choose to take it... If this tribute page could open up a debate, that ultimately led to the end of these murders, then i for one would grant shakilus the respect that some of you are saying he deserves ...

User avatar

What these kids need is some positive black role models, the only type i see are idiots like 50 cent who glamorize ganster type lifestyles. We need some sportsmen, businesssmen, who are making good of their lives.... not idiots posing with guns and knives... because as Shakilus found out there is nothing good about these weapons. This website started off as a bitter hatred filled battle between two different sides and i've noticed that people have now started to discuss things in a more constructive and sensible way. I must say that as a family member, Triecey has acted completely dignified even though it must hurt like hell to read these comments. DOn't get me wrong, i've put a comment on here about how i'm sick of these young black youths bringing this country down with their way of walking, talking and in many towns terrorising the streets, but i'm actually now starting to wonder if some good can come from this website as people are actually being constructive on how we could tackle this problem. I am a mixed race woman, so I can see both sides. When are we going to realise blaming each other wont help? this isnt a black, white or asian problem - its a kid problem. Dont believe me? Go google it. Want someone to blame? Go email 50 cent and eminem - parents, you need to lock mtv. All this crap about bitches and ho's - its all lies. Please tell me how the hell these men are gangsters when they run multimillion dollar companies! They are lying - smoke weed drink henessey? Please! They dont do those tings that they say they are doing!! You and I as adults can see though this crap - but your kids? they think that snoop got his mansion through pimping! He sings about p.i.m.p, but the reality is, to anyone that ever watched his reality show - he is far from that - his wife wont even allow him to eat kentucky!! And no, this is not a tirade against parents, most of us HAVE to work because how can you survive on just one wage? Drop off the racism, because, if we dont, things are only going to get worse. Go to bebo, see how whites, asians, blacks, muslims, hindus etc STICK TO THEIR OWN. Look at chelsea bennett, known gang member, killed sian simpson not ten minutes walk from my house - self defence? I think not! Stupid girls who werent brought up well and things got out of hand? Yes! We have to get back to basics, start again, reinstate family values, tough in this economy - we are all struggling and most of us find it hard just to break even. Shakilus was no angel.....along with most of the kids who have been killed out there. But hell.....could you cope with life as a teenager in this day and age? Because Im not so sure I could - I thought it was bad enough fifteen years ago when I was their age.

In that case I agree with you, especially because, as a white man, I do not want to be asociated with the BNP and what they stand for. This will inevitably come to a head: curfews are already being discussed, stop & search will have to become the norm and hopefully this Human Rights nonsense will be given less relevance as it allows exploitation and reduces Police powers to next to nothing. Those fools who brandish a knife on Bebo are the same kids who ask mom to buy them their favourite meal and wash their underwear: misguided brats with useless parents who take the lazy way out and - in gangs like the cowards that they are - pray on others. It remains the fact that, thanks to the Labour Party and their useless policies, we are now living in a country mobbed by wannabe gangsters and islamic lunatics. It will take years to put repair to this damage.

a tribute board to a dead kid would not include photos of people with knives and making gang signs. Do these cowards realise they are not in any way paying tribute to the kid who died but insulting his memory. The black comminity has an enormous problem with violence and they cannot blame slavery or colonialism for this. It is of their OWN doing and only the black community can sort it out. But I fear that when these facts are stated by white people they close ranks and call the racism card

Triecey: It's not about race is it? I'd check the statistics with regards to youth violence, you may find it's predominantly a black problem when it comes to weapons and gangs. As for you not making it a race issue, I suggest you read your initial post when you clearly suggested the comments of people sick of this nonsense could only come from white people. As for Gee Unit Efc mentioning that this problem affects white people too yeah, you are right: go ask the parents of Ben Kinsella how much it affects them. The difference? Ben Kinsella wasn't in a gang and wasn't spotted bragging about weapons. No community is immune from their fare share of scumbags, granted: but when I walk around the city centre in Birmingham the only threatening looks I get are from black lads, playing the usual "stare" game. I repeat, this is not how England was 15/20 years ago: parents of these kids roaming the streets at 16 playing the gangsta nonsense need to start taking some responsability rather than generalise and blame society.

To those who did this Shak attack. They need to hang their heads in shame as they are bound to have left some loose ends, and with the whispers going round it will not take much imagination to find out the guilty. There may be a maze of wrong information but eventually they will have to freeze, and make their cameo appearance before a judge. If you feel i'm blaming on race the you have misread what i have written. I said it before and shall say it again, IT'S NOT ABOUT RACE. It may have started out that way but it's not only effecting a specific race anymore is it. It's a bit like Herion, It effects ALL races so it's everyone problem, Just because it's mainly arab people bringing it into our countries. It's about youth culture which has no race, Wa'Gwarn and blud used to be words used by carribean people....growing up in this culture which has been highly influence by black culture it has become more acceptable for anyone to use it. So yes what may have started out as an issue that was only familar with one race has slowly become a problem for EVERYONE and we are all the blame, myself included.

At this time my thoughts and prayers go out to Shaki's parents and family. RIP Shaki. To those of you standing back throwing stones and saying it’s not our problem it’s there problem, it’s a black on black thing, nothing to do with us - well sorry to have to burst your bubble but this affects each and everyone one of us. It is not about race, it is not about colour, it is not about gangsters, it is about our young children going off the rails and having total disregard for the value of life, whether it be a shooting, stabbing or getting totally pissed and kicking someone to death. I am ole-school and believe it takes a community to bring up a child. So many of us are working parents and cannot be at the school gate come 3.30pm or at home to keep an eye when they finish school. As a community, please do not turn your back and walk away, if you see children getting up to no good weigh up the odds and if you deem it safe to intervene then do so otherwise get on you mobile and dial “999”. I have verbally reprimanded children within my community for using abusive language etc., and reported them to their parents. It’s about you and how you live within your community, don’t be afraid of the children, get to know their parents, get to know your neighbours. How many of you can honestly say you know your neighbours who live two doors away and if not than why not, because you don’t have time, because they’re not like you or simply because you can’t be bothered?

Please don't resort to the racial card. Please. This is not black vs white. It's a problem the black community has made its own and if you remain in your denial zone you'll never solve it. To quote a famous muslim broadcaster, "not all muslims are terrorists but all terrorists seem to be muslims". This principle applies to the knife problem and the black community. That doesn't make us racists, it's a fact. The sooner you recognise it and move away from victimism, the better for all of us.

I feel sorry for his parents, even though I'd like to know where they were when a kid barely out of nappies manages to turn into a small-time crook and threat to society at 16. As for all the disgusted people out there criticising the reaction on these pages, I'd suggest you use your energy to look around your own community and start working out how you can avoid becoming as popular as Shakilius was. I have an idea: how about living like a law abiding citizen to gain some respect? That's the whole point Mike, the one you people don't seem to get no matter how it's phrased: not many displaying anger on here would find themselves in "soon to be reformed" Shakilius' position because they probably a) work b) respect other people c) don't think England deserve to become a playground for under developed communities unwilling to progress and integrate. They are just sick of a society where many are gagged to please the thuggish, disrespectful, violent few. From random stabbings to crazed arabs blowing themselves up, this society who stupidly welcomed so many in the name of alleged progress and the embracing of multiculturalism is beginning to wake up to its own mistakes.

I'm intrigued by the comments left here...a memorial page. I'm sure the majority know and understand the meaning of a memorial but it must have slipped your mind as it sure as hell not what your doing. To begin with I was sickened but as I read on I realised what should I expect, your not going through the pain his family and friends are but for people that have children you should be ashamed on so many levels. Now some can not read nor spell, His name was Shakilus, Shaki for short or even Bugs. SHAK or whatever else you call him is not his name then again I'm sure you don't care. Now very little of you have proof of how he lived his life, or what he got up to and i guess leaving it up to the news of the world to guide your thoughts and opinions which you are so proudly call you own is what many of you are doing. He was a child 16, not a man despite what he or anyone else thought, and the way in which he died is INHUMANE and I wish what happened to him never happens to any of you or people you love. He was a SIXTEEN year old boy having to fend off MEN aged between 18-22 and 17 year olds with WEAPONS and all he had was his fists. If you knew Shakilus and knew him well then you knew what's what with his life and how much he's grown recently. His was in the middle of work experience, and planning his future, he had secured a place in college. SO AS HIS AUNT IM PROUD OF HIM AS ARE THE REST OF HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS, I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR HIM. Had this incident happened a few month ago, it would have been different and he would of had some form of 'GANGSTAR' item on him as many of you seem to like to call it but that's wasn't the case. So it's a vicious cycle, your telling Kids to put down their weapons but you've already pigeon holed and stereotyped them and as pathetic as it sounds they need to be praised for walking away and why shouldn't they walking away from gang and street culture is not easy. YOU work hard, is not nice to see your hard work go unnoticed, So go ahead and roll your eyes but if I am wrong if you ever get the chance of a promotion or some form of reward TURN IT DOWN (not so likely is it). So as a CULTURE,RACE,SOCITEY, COMMUNTITY, or how ever you would like to see yourself WE NEED TO FOCUS AND MAKE A CHANGE. The government can only do so much. You can blame and point fingers but what good are you if you don't make a stand. We have surpassed blaming it on race, family background, the educational system and any other stereotypical pigeon hole despite what you believe. And to many referring to the 'GANGSTAR SIGNS' that's all it is a sign and as children that's what they do, go on your childs facebook, myspace, bebo, Hi5, facepic or whatever social networking site and see for yourself it's not about race or how they where raised. Now at 19 I have outlived my nephew as has his MOTHER and FATHER and his GRANDPARENTS. I have also been able been able to illiterate myself better then many of the adults leaving 'negative' comments and are most likely WHITE judging by the their expression of how race is the reason for the death of my nephew, YOU need to STOP focusing so much on race as the course as it effects everyone irrespective of race.

R.I.P Shaki. You may not be here but my memories of you will never be forgotten. You were a good brother to your sisters and a good cousin to me. Its so sad you're not here right now but you are in a better place now in heaven somewhere all those evil people won't ever be. Right now everyone is missing you, you didn't deserve to die in such a barbaric way. All my academic and sporting successes i dedicate to you and you are my main motivation in the future. Its going to be a challenge to move on without you in this world because you meant so much to me. In about 90 years i will coming to heaven to be seated with you, God and all the other good souls. R.I.P Shaki From your lil cousin Ramel

I am here to let you all know Shak, f I'm saying that right, thank you Sam is not gone. He is merely moved on, if I can say this to a new, whats that sam, spiritual plane. He's looking down now and smiling and probably doing a little, whats that Sam, rap- yes a rap. And its a joyous rap. A rap that tells of a fabulous young talent taken too early from this physical realm. While his ancestors may have toiled for years in the fields, thank you sam, he no longer has to toil- he may be gone but not for cotton. Thank you please. God bless

Some of you people posting negative, rude things towards this 16, not 18, not 21, not 30 but 16 year old kid are sooooo weak.... Check it you gotta remember he was just 16... he was growing up and in todays society things are all a HYPE!!!! So because he took a pic with a gun or a knife he deserved to get killed? okay beaten up bad... maybe, stabbed once maybe but not the way he suffered. Thats like saying because its hot and a little kid is wearing shorts she deserves to be raped by phedophiles? Where are your hearts at? I as a black young female with three gorgeous nephews, i don't agree with him holding shanks or heats? But if his dumb mates never bought them pics to our attentions we wouldn't have known... So take a step back, cos someone somewhere down the line, (in your fam) may do something wrong they don't need to be getting KILLED.... Its society and culture and unfortunately the world. Who the f... are you people to judge? Please leave it to GOD!!!! Again to the Townsend family just stay strong... and to all mothers, & families who have suffered from loss to gun or knife crime.... Their all in a better place now... They say butterflies represent's new life thats why i use the butterfly for my icon... R.I.P Shakilus xXx Love *CC* PUT DOWN YOUR KNIVES & GUNS...

The general consensus of opinion not just here but everywhere that people have a chance to comment seems to point to one thing. We are not crying over this loss and if you are a 'Gansta' then think about that, no one respec's you, no one will care when you are dead, you will waste your life and those of the fools that emulate you. Each one of these idiots dead improves our society a little bit so instead of thinking you will be respected as a hero, realise that if you behave this way, posing with guns & knives and running with gangs then when you die in the gutter crying for mummy, you will not die like a hero, you will not get that all important respec', you will be seen as a pissy pants kid who thought he was hard when he had a weapon but ultimately, there is no respect and no regret in our hearts that a thug has gone. You post a picture of a dead rat and it would get more sympathy and respect than a dead gangsta. Think about that when you pick up a weapon. think about dying in the gutter with no one caring then put the weapon down and pick up a book. Learn, that's the way to succeed.

Rip my condolences goes to your family. I don't know you but i know you are a young black youth from London like many of us so. To all hypocrites judging someone they don't even know get a life cause that could be your son next. Good kids these days are often caught up in gangs but most of them are good people. I understand how hard it is when you live certain areas in London. No one deserve to be murdered for over little or nothing but remember what goes around comes around we all die at the end .
