Stephen and Jessica Three and a half years after Meridee's passing, I have stumbled across this tribute to Meridee, which Steve set up. I don' know if you ever look at it, but I'd like to record some memories of Meridee. Some are inspired by the selection of photographs Steve has uploaded. I remember Meridee bursting with excitement telling her tales of the highlights of her six month European travel with Steve. In particular, I remember the print that you both dragged around Europe, which Meridee found at the beginning of your travels and which could not be resisted! I recall that fabulous haircut and how Meridee's hair shone in the sun. How could I forget Jessica dressed in the fairy outfit I gave her on Steve's 40th birthday running gleefully through the bushes at Mrs Macquarie's chair with Greggles running behind, giggling! I see a delightful young woman, much adored by her mother and her father. I see a young man who grew in confidence upon being a husband, father and provider and who loves his daughter beyond measure. I recall the famous 'Christmas drinks' which were really 'Christmas all-day feasts"! Living in Brisbane at the time,I heard more about them than I experienced them but the one that I did attend lived up to its reputation! Meridee was a great lover of reading, theatre, musicals and politics. There was always something to talk about! One of my favourite Curruthers' memories was Meridee, Johnny, Alen, Lyndsay (not sure if Helen was there or in Italy) spontaneously bursting into a childhood remembered choreographed version of Oklohoma! What a hoot that was! It's true. Meridee will live on in our hearts for as long as we remember her. There are many wonderful things to remember. Faye xo

Dear Mr. Carruthers, I wanted to take the time to write to you today, to express my sympathy for the loss of your wife Meridee. Like you, my life has been touched by the untimely death of a loved one. My friends and family were a great comfort, but what helped me to cope was reflecting on the Bible's hope of seeing my loved one again, in what the Bible calls the Resurrection Hope". When all our dear friends and family that have passed away, will be brought back to life. Here are just a couple of scriptures in the Bible which describe this hope. Isaiah 25:8 "He (God) will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces".... John 5:28 "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (the voice of Jesus) and come out". I sincerely wish all the best for you and your family at this time. Sincerely, One of Jehovah's Witnesses"
