Laurie was a very proud First Fleeter descendant. He worked tirelessly with Helen to manage our memorabilia merchandise for the Rope-Pulley family gatherings. There was always a friendly chat and a very big smile from under his cap and lots of laughter to be shared. It was only a month ago that Laurie came to our meeting and shared some time with us. He will be sadly missed by our family group. Our deepest condolences to Helen and their family. Rosemary Roberts, Chairperson

Laurie (and Helen) welcomed me into their home and their family with love and generosity. In the early days he fixed any electrical devices that needed repair with the skill and precision of a master craftsman. I envied his garage filled with it's myriad of perfectly ordered, labelled and stored equipment and contents. His home was a testament to his skills as a technical wizard. He loved music and colour. I regret persuading him to buy a black jacket last year when really his wardrobe was filled with beautifully colour coordinated bright clothes. It just shows how he had mellowed in his later years that he didn't put up more of a fight and insist on the blue jacket he would have preferred. I will miss Laurie very much. But I am lucky to have shared part of his life.
