Yo Keith, Jay was always proud of your musical talents, I am sure he is pleased with the selection that you are putting together to honor him.
When we were younger, we played football on the block, but if a 18 wheeler drove through, or on the adjoining Avenue, Jay would stop the play, watch the truck pass and yell, "look ya'll, shes rolling! shes rolling!" and would stay fixated on it till it was no longer in sight. Its no wonder he quickly made friends with a trucker up the block, (Mr. Stills) who later moved next door to The Williams. Jay was going to be in the trucking business from then.
That is sooo true. By the time I was 7 or 8 Dwayne and I knew the difference between a Freightliner, Peterbilt and a Mack- Jerrold taught us. We played name the truck instead of the license plate game. When we did play the license plate game we had to spot and identify the license plates on trucks. At one time we all wanted to grow up and be truck drivers. Even after Jerrold became a trucker Jay and I still talked about buying a truck and driving cross country together a brother and sister team...
We had the good fortune to"meet" Jay a.k.a Jahluvr in the Interracial Room on AFF, the man was always pleasant , polite and respectful, qualities we admired and which endeared him to us. Jahluvr will be sorely missed, but we take consolation from the fact tha he is with Jah in an infinitely better place Jah speed brother until we meet on the other side..gone too soon..but never to be forgotten Onyx & Trimmed
The First time I met Jerold was back in 1978, I went over to Altons house, too see them practice DJ,ing in the basement. so when I get over there I here this person on the the mic saying "Its,s like that yall to beat yall you dont stop! Altons , said yo, this is my boy Jerold, and Cliff, and from that minute , Jerold was like yo what s up bro... watch me bust this rhym to, "I cant stop".. from that point we have been friends every since that day . Thrity years later we are still friends, He even got me to drive trucks like he did . There were many times we would talk on the phone for hours crossing entire states, many times our paths would cross, and Jay would say, Yo Ron Im headed that way too .meet me at exit so and so at the truck stop. I will be there in a few. So we can hang out awhile, before we had to head out to individual destinations. He was my best friend, brothers for life.. Jerold will be greatly missed , and always loved . Peace My Brother , Till we meet again.
Jerrold used to date a girl named CeeCee and she wanted to give him a surprise party for his birthday out at her house in Hempstead. She told his friends to pass the word. If were at that party you know there was no room to hold the amount of people who came to celebrate Jay's birthday. The house was packed, the yard was packed, the street was packed. To top it off Jerrold went to Brooklyn after his basketball game and it took a while to get him there. When he finally got there he was blown away that his friends came from all five boroughs, New Jersey and everywhere else just to celebrate his birthday. Jay was truly a legend who walked among us...
Lived next door to J, Dwayne and Carol for the first 21 years of my life back in Cambria. Even though J was 4 years older than I was, he never treated me like a kid or picked on me like he could've. And I could always count on him to have my back if somebody else tried to give me a hard time (like Andrew or Kenny Taylor) or if we were at Cambria park and something went down. Even though he wasn't my real brother, he still kinda felt like a big brother. J used to play ball and I admired his skillz. Then, I remember when I went to college and started playing ball for CCNY and J stopped me and told me that he had seen me up at Cambria park and that my "game was solid". It really meant a lot to me. Before I heard the news of his passing, I hadn't seen J in many many years, but some of those memories make it feel like I just saw him yesterday. Gonna miss knowing that he is no longer with us here in body ... but I know that he is still with us in spirit. God be with him and God bless you all. Kenny Duncan 223rd Street
I remember one day we were in dwayne and Jerrold's backyard, and we had just agreed on the name of Master Plan and Jerrold was talking about how he was going the buy gold medalions and british walkers for all of us. We started laughing, calling him crazy and foolish. But that how Jerrold was, he was always thinking of the next man before he thouhgt of himself. Sorry I didn't check you more often. Charlie Prince 2 chill...
Ole' G Killa- I love you my cousin!!! The last time we were together we were "battling" about Williamstown land...at the end of the conversation you and I had made a pact that we would "join forces" at the next family meeting and insist that everyone unite to create some form of business for the entire family. The conversation was about future and posperity of the Williams family legacy...a legacy that you are and will always be a part of. Although you're not here I promise to hold true to our pact. I love you more always!
I wish that you were here do take another dip in mama Williams pool this year.
One night we were hangin out at my house, laughing and cuttin up as usual. Jerrold cam out the house with a sandwich. Well, one of our friends kept eyeing my brothers sandwich and asked him for a bite. Anyone who knows Jay knows he will share anything he has. But Jay had a knack for eating some weird stuff. We tried to warn the poor guy but he wouldn't listen. He took a bite anyway. Then he said we were wrong about Jay the sandwich was really good. So he asked Jerrold what was it. Jerrold said you like it man, he said yeah what is it. Jay proudly told him it was a ketchup and stringbean sandwich. We all fell out laughing. Jerrold I still, all these years later, would laugh about that. I love you big brother and always will....
Yooooooo!!!! I remember that! I think it was Kenny Taylor. He had a variation of that sandwich. Collard greens and barbeque sauce on a roll. I never tasted it, but he couldv'e been on to something! Vegetarian Soulfood! LOL!
Oh Yeah! How could I forget! He always had a big Ice cold copper mug with grape kool-aid to wash it down, and had the afro pick in his hair to complete the look! LOL!!! I loved those days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jay stomach is solid. Love to try new things, which make you want to try it too. When he came to visit in Houston, he had to have ranch dressing for his rice. Arlene aka Ace : )
99.99% of the time Jerrold and I agreed on everything, which wasn’t hard for two very laid back brothers. That .01% time that we did not see eye to eye was when Jay caught me making a dirty tackle on his little brother Dwayne during one of our many pickup football classics of the 70’s. Jay put his sibling rivalry aside and let it be known what family meant to him. We went eyeball to eyeball, chest to chest, but no blows…just a clear message where he drew the line. Jerold wasn’t just big brother to Dwayne and Carol he was big brother to the whole crew, the “Master Plan” crew... whether his help was needed in a football game, a fist fight, an MC battle or dealing with life’s many problems, Jerrold was always there. Jay will be severely missed, but never ever forgotten….peace my brother…from your brother….Melvin
Jerrold a.k.a. MC Freeze had the ultimate voice to MC. No matter if the lines didn't rhyme, didn't make sense, or if the beat was wack, Jerrold and that voice made it sound DOPE! He never lost a MC battle, cause no one wanted to try and battle him. He had the delivery of a news anchorman, and rocked the mike with authority. He was a natural, Master Plan would write lyrics for him, but once he was in that groove, He just went off Freestyle! No lyrics can cage his flow! Jerrold was full of fun. We hung tough for many years. He taught me so much. When I got hotheaded in the streets, he would calm me down, saying "Keith, its not worth it!" And he was right, he probably saved my life a few times! He was always positive and always genuine. The WORLD will miss him, not just me. .........DJ Nasty "K"
When I got my first car, Jerrold was the first person I picked up beacause he knew a heck of a lot more about the road than I did. We drove everywhere! He taught me alot about cars, things I still use til this day. Every Sunday we drove to different parks in New York to play ball, meet girls, or just look for them! Today, all over New York City, I could point out where we hung out with different girlfriends, or where he slam dunked a basketball. We were brothers, from different mothers!
I was younger then Jerrold he was closer to my brother's age (chris) however I played with his sister from time to time his parents and my family were close Jerrold was always nice to me. My family was touched by his passing . My prayers and thoughts are with his family we all loved Jerrold he was a GREAT guy who will be missed Love Erica 219 and 120 javascript:void(null)

At a white castle after a Friday night at the club, Jerrold sees L.L. Cool J in his car, so Jay walks up to him and says, "I saw you on Letterman last night but I was dissapointed cause all you talked about was all the money and p*ssy you was getting and kept repeating "ya' know what I'm sayin', ya' know what I'm sayin'" so , L.L. asks Jay sarcastically, "what should I have said?" and Jay responds, "when you have an opportunity like that to speak to the youth of the world, say something of importance, and even more, say it with intelligence. You sounded like a common street hood up there" L.L. raised his windows and sped off. Ever since then, whenever L.L spoke publicly, he spoke with the intelligence of an english major.......then the movie roles started to come in for him. He really should thank Jerrold for his advice!
