Jan was a great person to have on a shift at RPA, you could always hear her raucous laugh and know she was having a good day! I last saw Jan in Sydney at Central Railway Station (which she owned!) a few years ago when I was visiting from Perth and I'll never forget that bear hug she gave me. Jan spent a year with us in the late 1970s courtesy of American Field Service. She was 18, bright, sassy, flip and very Aussie. Our "at home children" were 18, 17 and 15. It was by any measure a wonderful hectic, fun year! We all cried when she left. Over the years there were phone calls, pictures, she was able to come for a visit once, one of our daughters visited Jan & Len, back and forth and then the miracle of email - such a good thing. Finally, about two years ago, we got to Australia in company with another daughter and family. We were so happy to meet Jan's family and friends and to see her in her place. It was very special. We didn't know just how special. Now she has left us again and we are all crying. This time there won't be pictures or calls or emails, but there will be memories. Thank you, Jan.
