I absolutley adore James Cagney. I've seen every one of his movies. He had talent by the bucketload but was never selfish when using it. He never stole a scene when it was a group effort even though he could easily have done. He made scenes come to life when he turned on 'the goodies' as he called them. He was a mentor to younger actors and a fantastic dancer. I've spent many happy hours watching Cagney movies and Intend to spend many more. He was the best!! RIP Mr Cagney

Wrote my first (and only) fan letter to James Cagney after his American Film Institute award. At the time, I was the 26 yr old married mother of three and had only one movie star hero.....James Cagney. Always loved his movies, his biographies and the way he lived his life. I am now the 65 yr old married (to the same person) mother of 6 and grandmother of eight. Have never written another fan letter or admired an actor as much as I admire him. Oh, almost forgot to mention that I received a personal response to that letter in the form of a painted post card of a bouquet of flowers that simply said, "thank you so much and some posies from me to you". I'll always treasure that. Rest in peace, kind sir and RIP.

I was always a huge fan of Jimmy Cagney, watching his movies and taping as many as I possibly could in order to watch them whenever I wanted to. After reading his book "Cagney by Cagney" when it first came out,( I still have it today) I wrote him a letter and some time later I received a post card in the mail and at first i wasn't sure who it was from because it had a name signed across the back of it, simply he had just signed it and had it sent to me. The card was one that had been made from one of his paintings, "the punch drunk fighter", which is in my safety deposit box at the bank!!! i cried when he died and think of him often, watch his movies every chance i get and remember him every year on his birthday. He was definetly "one of a kind"!!!!!

I remember reading his autobiography many years ago - he wanted to write it himself so that it would be accurate. I was so impressed with his honesty, his values and his total lack of pretence. This was a man to be admired. His films engaged my interest in him, he was always my favourite film-star, but his book stole my heart.

I remember staying up till 11 pm on Saturday nights (before cable) to watch James Cagney in movies like "Each Dawn I Die" and "Roaring Twenties" on the local TV station as a teenager. I read his autobiography as soon as it was published (late 70s?). He is my favorite actor. There was something riveting about him. I found it hard - and still do - to take my eyes off him when he is on the screen. He is unique and I don't think any of the stars of today equal him in talent, and versatility. His friend, Patrick O'Brien called him "the faraway fella" because he was a pensive and spiritual man. Everyone who knew him loved him. I never knew him personally, but I miss him.

I just remember being about nine or ten years old when I first viewed some of my first James Cagney film, (I think it was Yankee Doodle Dandy) that was part of "Thats Entertainment". I was really impressed with his dancing skills and thought he was very talented. My brothers used to do James Cagney imitations, like, "You dirty rat", and I just remember growing up knowing about him. My mother was older when she had me, so I knew a lot of the older film actors and actresses. I just wanted to thank Mr Cagney for his contribution to the entertainment field and to the history of musicals and films.

The Dakin Building is an architectural award winning class A office building on the San Francisco Bay in Brisbane, California. Serving as a corporate headquarters building for several companies of national prominence, it was built from the profits of the Garfield character whose licensed products of the R. Dakin Company soared in sales in the late 1980s. Located on Sierra Point, it became a landmark in the San Francisco Bay Area for its distinctive design and was nicknamed the Luke Skywalker building for its dramatic posture overlooking the bay, in contrast to its ominous looking neighbor office building that was nicknamed the Darth Vader building.
