About two weeks before Thanksgiving 2008 Jim said one day he was coming to our home to take down the wall between our living room and garage to make the living room larger. We had talked about the work before. I looked at Jim and said Its only two weeks before Thanksgiving and the kids were coming for the holiday I don't want to start if it can't be done by then .Jim said don't worry,Well the afternoon of the day before Thanksgiving it was finished. This was raising the floor of the garage, building a stone fireplace, taking down a wall, adding a large window, building a pantry, finishing the drywall and being ready for painting. Jim's son Jimmy helped his dad and his son Landon did the painting. The carpet was down and the work finished. Our family was all together for Thanksgiving in our new home. Thank you Jim we love you and miss you very much. Dad and mom Foree
I remember one day when driving out to KCMO on HWY 70 Jim and Barb passed me on the right, I honked and Jim looked at me and you'd swear his smile went from california to florida.. This would be the last time I would see him..
I remember calling Jim just this past December in a panic because the company we hired to put a new roof on our home called and wanted to come out the next day to do the work. What? Can you put a new roof on in the winter...with snow....will the shingles even lay flat or stick or do whatever it is they are suppose to do? Who can I call and find out if this is okay or not? My big brother-in-law, Jim, that's who. And yes, Jim said that you can roof in the middle of winter. And yes, they came out the next day and replaced our roof...because Jim said it was okay. I miss his wisdom, his guidance, his smile. I miss him. I miss his chuckle...a deep, throaty chuckle. I can close my eyes and think about it and still hear it. I hope I can always hear it.
There are SO many memories about my dad and I want to share, but one that I love was on my wedding day. I remember waiting for Dad to come get me when it was time to walk down the isle and we just took a small moment just him and I. It was great, he truly looked very happy and proud of me, and I believe that we even shared a nurvous laugh and I got to see him smile so big and hear that great laugh! He told me when we were talking down to "slow down, I only have you for a few more moments before I give you away to a great man".
Jessica you did a great job with this website. Thanks for sharing!
