I was sad to see the notice of Rene's death. We were in the same group during our medical training at Sydney University from 1946-1952. I have many memories of his stimulating input to our group but sadly lost contact after we graduated. However,we did meet again briefly during his time with WHO in Geneva and at one of our year reunions more recently. I still have a copy of plays by Aristophenes which he gave me for my 21st. birthday--inscibed in French,and ,naturally, in green ink!! My wife Jane joins me in sending the family our sincerest sympathy.
