This web page is my memory with David Fewchuk. He was real great person. I talked about the history of the solar car with him. I was expecting his book to publish. However, it has become a dream that does not come true. http://sunlake.org/solar/dfmemorial/index.htm

I remember Dave as a very popular teenager in Eastwood, Sydney. He was so charismatic both at the Eastwood Baptist Church and amongst his Epping Boys High schoolmates that it was hard to monopolise a conversation with him. By coincidence I met up with Dave again in 1973 at Ford Broadmeadows when he was putting the finishing touches to the design/costings of the new Falcon due for release at that time. I was just a nosey ABS public servant trying to assess the worth of the car's new features so that Falcon's CPI prices could faithfully reflect the car's superior value-for-money over its predecessor. Over the course of that chat, I recall how knowledgeable he was re. the car's every mechanical detail and how easy it was for him to make it all so easy to understand. Wonderful memories of a fabulous person. You left the world a much better place, Dave.

I did not realise that Dave had passed on until I saw his mother's death notice in today's newspaper. I remember Dave very well for his sporting prowess. He was a sensational rugby player when he was young. I do not know whether he went on with it, probably not - because if he had continued in the game he would have had a pretty good career. Anyway, both Dave and his mother - and his father, too - are at peace, bathed in the love of their Heavenly Father.

I just heard with great sadness of Dave's passing. Having worked with Dave at Ford in the 70's and coming back into contact with him again on the FAPM Concept car I knew of Dave as someone who could just get the job done, no matter how difficult it appeared. We wowed them in Detroit in 1998. He wowed everyone with his outcomes from the Solar Car project. He just got the best out of everyone.

I was shocked to hear of the passing of a David. Even though I lost contact with Kathy when she and David moved to Melbourne. In his younger years he was always working on his little Austin which at that stage was he's pride and joy. There many happy memories of group outings and the singing group he was in. He will be missed by many people who he has helped over the years. To Kathy, from a long lost friend, my depeest sympathy to you and your family. Pat(nee Steel)

Shocked to here the news of Davids passing over in China. I first met David at Aurora the late 90's where i was talked onto helping out with the building of the solar car, I still don't know how he did that , but everyone he makes contact with seems to come under his spell. He was a great leader with passion and drive and a tireless worker, it was an honor to work with him ,he was a friend and mentor and will be sadly missed. condolences on to his family

Dave and I became joined at the hip for about four years on the aXcess australia concept car project. I eventually learned to keep his hours and avoid his camera. He put his heart and soul and humour into every minute. We became close friends on a great adventure. Too few times we caught up since. Thanks Dave, your passion and drive and contribution will be long remembered and sadly missed. OK, one last pic for the album...

I just learned about the passing away of our dear friend David. I first met him when he was assigned to Ford Philippines Inc. as Product Engineering sometime in 1979 through 1982. I was with the Office of the Managing Director. He went back to Melbourne and became Govt. Affairs Manager of Ford Asia Pacific Inc. Upon his retirement, he joined Aurora Vehicle Association. The Solar Car was his baby. The last time I saw him was in July 2008 when I visited Melbourne with my family. I had a get-together/mini reunion with my ex-Ford Phils. friends who were based in Melbourne. Herewith are some of the pictures taken on said occasion. To Kathy, Liz, Nathan and Talia - our deepest sympathies on the passing away of your loved one. We pray for the eternal repose of his soul.

Dave first got me involved with the Capri program for Ford back in late 1987 and shortly afterwards I found myself on assignment in Detroit for more than 2 years working with a very small skunkworks developing an airbag system for the car to meet US crash criteria. It turned out to be the best job I have ever had and the most exciting time of my 24 year career at Ford, six of which were on the Capri program. Subsequent to returning home in 1990 Dave arranged to have me reassigned to the Product Planning Office for Capri working directly for him and ultimately we shared the pleasure in knowing that eventually the Capri outsold the Mustang convertible. Just earlier this year I had lunch with Dave and shared some memories of our good times on the program. I was shocked to read today of his sudden and far too early departure from us all and pass my sincere condolences on to his family. Peter Pidgeon
