I started listening to Dan's music in 1977. Any time I feel down, I put on one of his CD's. They always make me feel better. It's so sad to realize that he is no longer with us on earth and one day I hope to meet him above!

I've always enjoyed his music, his beautiful voice, the sounds of his guitar. I hadn't known that he suffered with cancer but I also have (Jan. 2007 ovarian) so I can relate to some of what he must have gone thru. I'm so glad he had someone who loved him at his side (his wife.)

I remember listening to "The Leader of the Band" and "Run For the Roses" with my mom and both of us crying . . . to this day both of those songs get me choked up. And "Longer" is one of my all-time favorite songs. I'm so sorry he is gone but so grateful that we will always have his music. I hadn't heard about his passing until recently, but my heart goes out to his family and friends for their loss.

Growing up in the 70's, I remember listening to his songs. Hearing "Leader of the Band", I think of the memories of growing up with my father. Thanks for those memories. I still get tears in my eyes when I hear his songs. God Bless you Dan Fogelberg.

I remember going to a concert at the Jones Beach Theater with my boyfriend to hear Dan Fogelberg for the first time live. I was still bruised and picking up the pieces from a painful divorce and hearing Dan sing all the songs from his Exiles album captured my heart. His words spoke to me as if he knew me and I knew him. That night everything was perfect. The sun setting over the water at the beach, the music, the lighting, the mood he created, and of course my boyfriend there to share it with me. Needless to say,we have now been married almost 20 years! When I heard of Dan's passing, I was shocked as I did not know he was ill. We have lost a beautiful and talented man way too soon. May his memory and music live on forever.

I remember hearing Heart Hotels at a very down period of my life when I was alone and thinking Wow, he's singing exactly what I'm feeling! Strangely enough, it cheered me to think that I could identify with Dan and thats when I became a die-hard fan. That was 30 some years ago. Man, I miss him!

Living in Southern Colorado when Dan did and being really close in age to him made me feel closer to him than any other performer-it was like I knew what he knew somehow. Seeing him perform at Pagosa Springs high school with just his guitar was such a fabulous gift-it was a treat I will never know again. I wish his wife and friends whatever comfort it is possible to receive ; they and all of us have suffered an irreplacable loss..

Omg..True story. I turned my radio on last night to listen for songs that might suit my range...(because in my dreams I am going to conquer my fears and do the one thing I would love to do)...and I heard what I thought was a female singing an old song I remembered. And the words touched me so much..that I got out of bed to scribble a few of the lyrics down so I could search it today on the net. Well, all I had to go on was..."I m just a living legacy to the Leader of the Band."...anyway, a few hits on the net later I end up on You tube listening to this beautiful man signing this song. I felt so moved that I thought I would send him an email to thank him...then I see that he has passed. Well, I hope wherever you are Mr Dan you know what beauty you bought to this world. Funny, how things happen, my father was the best singer but did nothing with it......He sang to us every night... and all of the community.at times.. he had the voice of an angel....but was to scared to take it further....and I am now being challenged to go forth but lack courage. Hearing this song has made me think about how I am doing the same thing..and somehow I have to get over my fears as a way to validate him...Thank you God bless your family. Lyndab Australia

God has taken Home one of his most special Angels from this Earth!!! One day we will all be able to listen to his beautiful songs in Heaven endlessly. I have been especially drawn to one of his most gorgeous and touching songs, "Same Aulde Lang Syne", many times as well as many of his other soulful songs over the years. The first time I ever saw Dan in concert was the Netherlands tour, he walked out by himself, black tux, no band, just a grand piano and started playing Netherlands, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. It was incredible, gave me chills, what perfection and class. I have been to probally 30+ shows thru the years and have never seen anyone that comes close to matching his talent. The most beautiful music, lyrics, playing. So underated, WHY??

My first experience with Dan's music was in 1978. I was going through a rough time in my life, and it was Dan and his Netherland's album that helped me through. I've seen him in concert too many times to count. He will always be a part of me. His light will continue to shine through his music. God bless him family.

Leader of the Band came out around the same time my Dad went home to be with the Lord. What a beautiful song. I cannot listen to that song without thinking of how blessed I was as well to have the great Dad I had. I pray for Jean that the Lord will grant you peace as you grieve the loss of your husband. Even if we are apart for a season we will be together in that place with no sickness or pain. Then we will never ever be seperated again.

I WAS DEEPLY SADDENED TO HEAR OF DAN'S PASSING. BEING A PROSTATE CANCER SURVIVOR, IT REALLY SCARES ME TO THINK HOW LUCKY I AM. DAN'S COLLABERATION W/ TIM WEISSBERG'S "TELL ME TO MY FACE" IS STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS. IT NEVER REALLY GOT THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVED. REST IN PEACE.

I was 14 when I met my first husband who was a life guard on the Florida beaches. He was 24 and going through police school to be a marine patrole in Sarasota. He loved Dan Fogelberg's music and I had never heard it until I started listening to my husband's records. I loved the songs Dan Fogelberg wrote so much that I started getting my own records and I listened to them all of the time. My favorite song of his was... and will always be The Long Way. Because that man that I married at 14 years old Im now divorced from. And that was our favorite song. And we surely WENT THE LONG WAY... MAYBE JUST THE WRONG WAY... ILL NEVER KNOW.... I'll love you forever..... Im crying right now its all just so sad. And I wish Dan Fogelberg didnt hav e to die so soon. And I hope he was happy and that he got to go to heaven. Love, Elizabeth

It's strange how through someone's music you feel you know their soul. Losing Dan, felt like I lost a member of my own family. I wasn't born until 1972, but I grew up listening to his music as a child. I feel very lucky that I had the opportunity to see him 3 times in concert. But how I wish I could have been in my late teens or early twenties in 1972 instead, so that I could have more opportunities to see him live. Dan, your soul may have departed this world but your songs and your passion will be your living legacy. I love you and miss you very much!

The last concert we attended we had front row seats and my then 13 year old son said as Dan walked out on stage "He really is real" Dan waved at him and my heart melted. I have loved him since I was 15 and still cannot believe he is gone.

I fell in love with Dans music instantly in 1972. Have followed his career and music my whole life. My mother and family knew how much I loved his music. My mother died Dec.2.08 and being in that greiving state when I heard about Dans death it was so surreal. Such loss all the way around , but sitting here listening to his music I feel strength and happiness. Sadness comes and goes too, but his music really stuck with me and it will as long as I live. Thanks Dan!

I just found out this week about Dan's death. How sad I felt that this artist would not be working on something new to share with all who loved him so. I remember the first time I ever heard his name in the 70's. One of my friends and I were going through his enormous album collection and he said I know someone you are going to absolutley love. He was so right! I've never grown tired of his music and that was 30 something years ago. I wore out 2 Homefree albums and recently bought a new CD. All my friends I introduced Dan to also went out and bought one. His music is food for the soul and through his music he is still allowed to touch our souls and emotions. His spirit thrives because of his beautiful gift to the world.

Dan Fogelberg's music sang to and from the heart and has touched me like no other as deeply and long over several decades-especially in my teen and 20's years in the 70's and 80's. He was so beautiful on so many levels. He was my favorite image/fantasy of my long haired sensitive Colorado man with heart. He inspired lots of love in me. He's part of a dream/fantasy that seems to have died as well. I need to realize that the love is not gone, but the fantasy/dream has shifted. It's like a part of my past and heart are intertwined with his music. With his passing, it's so unreal and sad -and it shifts something deep in me. I'm so sad that he and his wife must of suffered and been so hard. I cry for that too. I guess it was part of their growth and "Part of the Plan" that we don't understand. It's hard to grasp something so beautiful is not with us on this plane anymore. This world lost a very beautiful soul. Thank God his music lives on. Glad to hear a many others felt the same way. That is comforting. Blessings, Sharon McDaniel
