Oh my God Amanda the jungle drums have only just reached me. Girl you were such fun to be with hell we had some good times. generous to a fault , so witty and on the ball. Although the news has only just reached me. I now reside in NZ. Although belated grief has arrived late for me its knocked me for six and the white wine will flow tonight and that's bound to stoke up some great memories from the past rest easy girl and god bless Gary Day

Amanda was a lovely person of great intelligence, a dry wit and a warm heart. I liked her enormously and had great respect for her integrity and good will. I wish to offer my condolences to her loved ones.

I met Amanda Zachariah in about 2006 when she wrote an article about me for the GT magazine. I found her to be so lovely and genuinely interested in me that we formed a friendship and we would email every now and then. Amanda had an amazing gift with not only her writing, but her general manner. My favourite quote in the world is this.......and I think it highly appropriate for Amanda....... "Keep away from people who belittle your ambitions. Small people do that, but the really great make you feel that you too,can become great" Mark Twain Amanda encouraged me with all my endeavours and I was only asking after yesterday as I had some news I wanted to share with her. My love to all the family-whom I have not had the privilege of knowing- please know that Amanda was a WONDERFUL woman and I think she knew this, not in a conceited way, but in a way that was expressed in the quote-she was absolutely willing to encourage people to be their best. She loved her life and she told me this. THANK-YOU AMANDA for being an inspiration to me-Love Megan Castran xxx

You will be missed, my old China plate! Even after being in Los Angeles two decades, you've always been in my heart and I'm trying to post a photo of the great lunch we had when I brought my then-boyfriend Andrew to Melbourne for the first time and knew I had to get your seal of approval. Photo I've attached taken in 1996 of Amanda, Graham, Andrew and I with Lesley Hetherington - we had so many great adventures together at Southdown press, particularly in that bar next door and then when i moved into the apartment upstairs from Amanda on North Rd in Brighton. Amanda was at my 21st birthday party, my farewell party and is someone that makes me smile with memories every time i think of her. what good times we all had and I can still hear that great big laugh and all her catch phrases "frank frank frank' 'its cold - then get your hand out of the ice bucket' and 'never drink on a Monday, its dangerous' (but we'd say that after the first bottle of wine was already gone!). Sympathies to Graham, Richard and family who have lost a woman who taught all of us how to live BIG but kept it humble at the same time. love you Mandsxxxx
