My deepest commiseration to Simon's family, he was a genuine soul :( The first time i met Simon was 2007, i instantly felt contented, his honest to goodness put me at ease. He was well known for his extraordinary skills but to me me, he was well known for his extreme kindness and honesty. may your beautiful soul rest in peace :(((

Dearest Julie, Words cannot describe how saddened I am at the passing of your beautiful husband. I was telling my husband about Simon (as they sadly, never had the good fortune to meet) and the same word came up time and time again - gentleman. Simon was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. It didnt matter if you hadnt seen him for years, he would always cross the road to speak with you and at that small snap shot in time, make you feel as if you were the most important person in the world. His sincerity and kindness were from the heart and felt by all to whom he had contact. I know there is nothing I can say to minimise your pain. But I hope you can take some comfort in knowing just how much he was admired, respected and loved. Best wishes darling. Both Mandy and I are thinking of you and your beautiful family. Much love, Rebecca xx

I first met Simon when he was my intern at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. I will never forget having Simon Bernard and Martin Clarke as my highly entertaining team on the medical ward. They were instant firm friends, and would always have me laughing or entertain me with their grand plans , crazy schemes and wonderful sense of humor for all things. They had such energy and enthusiasm for life even back then as we were finding our way as young doctors. In recent times I worked as Simons surgical assistant, and just as before, he was such a wonderful person to be around. Without fail he would have us smiling and laughing as we worked. I truly loved every minute I spent In his company. Simon, you were a brilliant plastic surgeon and a wonderful friend. A man who was passionate about all things, especially your family, and your work. Your energy and enthusiasm was infectious to those around you and I was proud to work for you. I will miss you terribly. I will always remember you. With love and sympathy to your family Julie, Maddie, Max and Hugo.
